DrumStudio app good for
I dont think theres an equivalent to this app in the apple store. It is a great app, but whenever I export a pattern as a midi file to a notation program like Sibelius or Notion 5, the notes are not placed where theyre supposed to be on the score. Theyre all on ledger lines way under the score...So I think a sheet music save option or a score view would be great. We could then copy or export the score to a notation program. Also the drum sounds are not very pleasant. Its been a long time since the app was updated so I hope the dev will take all the usersremarks into consideration.
If I want to change the drum set type in the settings, theres only a white window without any options to chose and I have to close the app, because nothing else works to shut this window. Please fix this!
Hi folks, thats a really great app, thanx to the programmer! I use it for my personal studies because I am a lousy student on the Djembe
I wish the 16 year old me could have used this app (Im 38 now :)
It would have blown my mind.
Hands down this is the way to construct and share grooves properly.
Amazing.
5 stars now that midi file gets exported in email function along with the tab. I can email to myself and open the midi file in Music Studio to add some melodic tracks to and experiment.
With vMidi I can then control drumjams awesome kits with music studio.
I have a set of v-drums at home and I have enjoyed plugging them in to use with this app. (With yamahas core midi interface imx-1)
I love the way the app is simple but so powerful.
Congrats Andy, you are among my app dev heroes!
Its a great way for drum students to learn how to read tab, because the app can play the tab and you can play along. You can write your own tab if you want to remember a specific beat. Ive only scratched the surface of what DrumStudio can do. Kudos to Rollerchimp for a super app !!!!!
First of all really thx! This program makes for drummers. Now I found my way to fast record my own drums solo and wont leave it in head. Interface, recording, editing everything is perfect! Thank you guys!)
Some bad moments
When I buy a drum app I would expect it to at least to be able to sequence it.
Not in this case, when i sequence it from Genome sequencer, this crap is playing back only monotone, it can not play more than ONE NOTE at a time.
Dont waste your money
The drums sound good though, thats why Im giving 2 stars
Without Hit hat closed/open its impossible to create a reasonable rhytm. Sounds are poor too!
What about an open high hat? More note accents would really be nice. Customizable kit parts and stuff like that. And when I hit record, I have no clue where its going. I checked the voice memos. Not there. I think its to record with an outside source. Id like if the drums were more organic sounding too, with a selection of drum tones and kit tones that you could mix and match into your preferred kits. Cant wait for the update! This is pretty good stuff. Definitely a step in the right direction.
I downloaded this as a teaching aid to show my student the beat I asked them to play instead of writing it out. In addition they could hear the beat and see it at the same time. It worked well. There is some room for improvement but I think this is definitely a cool tool.
Suggestions:
- Love the email tab feature however the hihat line didnt line up with the other notes in the email.
- I couldnt get the screen to rotate
- The volume wouldnt turn up very loud
- It would be nice to be able to reorder the drums on the tab page or add/remove the ones you dont need. For exampl as a teaching tool it wouldve been helpful to only show hh snare and bd next to each other.
Overall very robust and full of features for the price! Good job!
Brilliant! exACTly what Ive been looking for!
2 suggestions ...
1. screen flipping would be nice. Drum Tab orients on the opposite side Im most comfortable with.
2. Any chance in the future youll include actual drum notation? I know Id pay for such an upgrade(!)
I love this app, it both helps with my playing and allows me an easy way to right and rehearse new beats. One thing I would really like to see in a new update is a tap tempo button, as it would be nice to be able to change to what I hear in my head without needing to search for it.
